Cristin "True" Whiting, PsyD
Transpersonal Psychologist
Artist Storyteller

My practice exists on the ancenstral lands of the Saura, Catawba, Keyauwee and Sissipahaw peoples. I recognize and honor the enslaved people and their descendants whose hardship funded the buildings where my practice currently sits.
In acknowledgment of this history, I make regular donations to reparation funds as a part of my practice in dismantling unconscious, systemic racism.

Welcome!

Let me introduce myself. My given name is Cristin but I go by True. My pronouns are she/her.

I strive to provide a safe, affirming and inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds, identities and abilities are welcome. I continue to educate myself on the topic of diversity and inclusion and seek to understand where I do not.

The healing philosophy I work through is called transpersonal psychology. Transpersonal psychology explores the human experience beyond our sense of our self. It includes the exploration of a spiritual consciousness in its most general sense and a relationship to that which is greater than oneself. How that is defined and known varies from person to person. For some that exists inside of a religious framework, for others it exists in relationship to nature, and for still others it includes a cosmology that is unique. I also work with those who don't have a relationship with spirituality, grounding instead in concepts such as their experience of love and living.

What really works about this approach, is that it is a practice that believes that our true nature is one of wholeness.
It makes room for curiosity, compassion and creativity--and I have found both in my personal journey and through working with others, that is a gentle yet powerful place from which to heal. When we are in pain, it is sometimes hard to hold a view of our innate connectedness, which is why it is useful to work with another who can hold this vision for us.

From a practical standpoint, my therapeutic approach incorporates talk therapy with the wisdom of the body and well as the use of healing journeys, meditation and creativity.
